Family Displaced After House Fire In South Modesto, California – Modesto News

At 4:25 p.m. Stanislaus Consolidated Fire, the Ceres Fire Department, and the Modesto Fire Department responded to reports of a house on fire on Benson Ave. just north of Oregon Dr. in the airport district neighborhood in south Modesto, California.  When crews arrived the found a fire which had started on the side of the building and worked it’s way into the attic area of the structure causing significant damage.  Fire crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes however, remained on the scene for well over an hour doing work to ensure that the fire would not start back up again and securing the building.  This building use to be a single family residence however is now a multiple family dwelling with 6 different units. 4 were vacant while 2 housed people.  The Red Cross was called to the scene to aid in the housing of 2 adults and 1 child who lived in one of the units.  Modesto News .org was there to bring you this footage of the aftermath of the fire and this interview with Battalion Chief Terry Inderbitzen of the Modesto Fire Department about the fire.
